LIEN SEMINAR – Energy Awareness & ISO 50001 Transition

Context:
Energy Awareness is a continual improvement activity required in all large organisations to support the Energy Management process. The effort to maintain employee engagement and create an environment that fosters a culture of opportunity generation and the upkeep of accomplishments is challenging. This seminar showcased LIEN company experiences and provided a forum for the exchange of new ideas and approaches.  The agenda addressed the process of Energy Awareness and included techniques for staff engagement together with insights on monitoring and evaluation.

The International Energy Management standard ISO 50001 was published in June 2011 and will replace the current European Energy Management Standard EN16001. The seminar focused on the transitioning process from the EN16001 to the ISO50001 standard and highlighted variations in the standards and the advantages or difficulties of the new standard. Experiences from companies who have already gained certification to ISO50001 were also presented.

LIEN SEMINAR - Waste Heat Recovery & Free Cooling Opportunities

Context: Ireland’s climate is very favourable for utilising free cooling for various sector and process applications. Additionally there are opportunities to increase the efficiency of processes utilising heat recovery, thus decreasing costs and energy usage. SEAI formulated a seminar that provided insights, application solutions and case study examples from industrial speakers. It included examples of new installations and the retrofitting of free cooling solutions in existing operations. Presentations on the day can be found below.
