Energy Efficient Design
The application of energy-efficient design (EED) has proven to be one of the most cost-efficient and attractive ways to improve energy efficiency in industry, as well as in other major energy-consuming sectors. In the planning phase of a new plant or installation, life-time energy costs of processes, equipment and utility systems should be assessed.
During the planning and design phases, saving potentials are higher and the investments needed to achieve the savings are much lower than when optimisation is carried out during commercial operation (see graph below).
This initiative aims to develop the following EED support material for consulting engineering organisations and company project managers:
- Publication of EED methodology guidelines
- Development of EED methodology training
- Seminar material to disseminate guidelines and demonstration projects
To start this activity we are launching this with a workhop on the 6the March 08. We are inviting interest from the Energy Agreements Programme, LIEN & Consulting Engineers Associations. This will act as a commencement activity for the establishment of a Special Working Group on Energy Efficient Design.
